I was recommended to Marjan Rafeii by my son’s pediatrician. My son, Aaron, had a lisp since he was a toddler. I kept thinking he would outgrow it as people kept assuring me. By the time he turned 7, it still had not gone away so on the advice and recommendation of my pediatrician, I made an appointment for a consultation with Marjan.
I was skeptical that a boy of 7 would be open to speech therapy but under the careful, knowledgeable direction of Marjan, his lisp disappeared in 6 months. From our first consultation, I could see the connection she made with him and how he connected with her. From her initial diagnosis to her final weeks with him, I was consistently amazed at how she transformed his speech and essentiallytaught him a new way to form the letter S and use his tongue in the proper way to form the correct sound. Marjan’s curriculum was age appropriate and completely engaging for him.
Four months after his completing speech therapy, my son lost his 1st top tooth. We all know what a bizarre experience it is to have a gaping hole in the front of our mouths and I was worried that he would fall into his old patterns of speech. But the work Marjan did with him stayed with him and it is a joy to watch him with that goofy toothless smile putting his tongue on the “magic spot” and pronouncing his S’s with confidence.
I will be eternally grateful to Marjan for helping my son achieve this goal and helping to instill in him the confidence he has in his speech.
We ‘ve been exrtremly happy w the result that our 5 year old son got from Ms. Rafeii. She has a great form of energy and always working w our son with lots of joy, smile ,and enthusiasm. He was always looking forward to go to his classes and he advanced very quickly within short period of time. I was always wondering how his problem will get solved, but I already could see a difference within first couple of classes. This has been the best thing I have ever done for my son.
My son started seeing Marjan Rafeii when he was three years old for severe disfluency. W e saw my son get progressively better with the provided therapy . Not only were her sessions with my son productive she always spend the time with me to help me continue to reinforce her system and plan toward helping my son learn ways to control and overcome his disfluency. My daughter also benefited from sessions with Marjan Rafeii to help correct her severe lisp. She is so easy to recommend as I am always confident that she will pay attention to the nuances and details of each situation to create the most effective plan for each of her patients. I will always be grateful to her for helping both of my children.
I came to see Marjan when my son was approximately 3 yrs old. This was after about a year of visiting approximately 5 different therapists with disappointing results,
I called Marjan again in the hope that she would have an opening in her schedule to treat our son. She has been working with my boisterous and self-directed (wonderful) son for 9 months now.
At 4 years old his speech has greatly improved, which is not only evident in his communication skills, but also in his interactions with his peers and in his behavior generally.
